Gestalt Approach
The Gestalt Approach to Organisational Consulting
A Gestalt Approach to Organizational Consulting is based on goal-oriented assessments, design and implementation of change and learning processes in organisations.
The Gestalt oriented consultant works to heighten the individual / group's awareness of its own process in dealing with problem areas that are getting in the way of current effectiveness. The Gestalt Cycle of Experience (see below) is a key 'road map' in working with clients: e.g. what are they aware of in their environment? How do they mobilise (or not) their energy to act? Do they act on the right things?

Gestalt organisation consultants view change in a fundamentally different way to many consultants. We see change as having a paradoxical quality. This means that we believe that change is not about blue-sky visioning of what could be better but rather change occurs when one (e.g. person or team) fully accepts a current situation and is prepared to work with what is.
When change is forced, resistance to it is automatic. We see resistance as something to be made aware of, respected and understood, not something which must be conquered.
| The expression of an indication of opposition to something is as much a statement of the integrity of the person making it as it is the manifestation of non-oppositional behaviour. |
